Many coastal walks and beaches are within easy reach by car.

For the fisherman, fishing charters can be arranged, also good surfcasting is achievable from the nearby rocks. Hooked on Barrier, a dive and fishing tackle shop in Claris has all the fisherman needs.

Great Barrier boasts a challenging 9 hole Golf Course. Visitors welcome any day with their own clubs. $20.00/Honesty Box facility. Club days Thursday and Saturday. Hire clubs available on these days.

Mount Hobson summit can be explored by more experienced trampers.

Another attraction is Kaitoke Hot Springs, an easy 40 minute flat walk through native bush.
